Are you in a high-pressure job that consumes your every thought? Or maybe your marriage is suffering and you are on the verge of divorce. No matter what stressful situation you are in, Dr. Robin says laughter may just save you from becoming overwhelmed. "It relieves stress, it heals your body, it heals your mind," she says. "Embrace the humor that is all around you. Whether you're in a valley [or] a pit, there is still some way you can find humor."

Sometimes you can rely on others to make you laugh, but Dr. Robin says poking fun at yourself is always a good way to relieve stress. "Laugh at your own behavior, laugh at your own insecurities," she says. "Use the gift of humor and find a way to laugh because it is medicine for your very life and soul."
