Is it possible that everything we thought about diet and exercise is incorrect? Could not eating dessert and not drinking beer actually be making us fat? According to journalist Gary Taubes, this just might be the case. Gary talks with Dr. Oz about disputing commonly held ideas about diet, exercise and weight loss in his book, Good Calories, Bad Calories: Challenging the Conventional Wisdom on Diet, Weight Control, and Disease.

Gary has spent 15 years reporting and writing about health, diet and nutrition. He says society feeds us many diet and health facts that may not be true and may be contradicting our current health practices. "It's hard to believe that by not eating potatoes you could be doing yourself harm," Gary says. "But it's possible."

Gary says one of the best and most effective diets is loaded with protein and fat, but has few carbohydrates. He also explores some of the most common myths about what really causes health problems like high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes.
