Hurricanes Katrina and Rita Relief

In September 2005, Oprah promised families displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita new homes and a new community. As of August 2007, donations to Oprah's Angel Network in response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita total $15.6 million. Over the past two years, nearly 300 homes have been built or restored in eight communities across four states—Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. From now until Wednesday, September 3, donations to the Angel Network will go towards projects to help families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Donate to Hurricane Victims
