Mistake: Not Wearing Sandals in the Locker Room
Moist environments are breeding grounds for bacteria and locker room showers are no exception.

Remedy: Wearing sports sandals or flip flops is essential to prevent bacteria, athletes foot and plantar warts. It's a good idea to take off your street shoes and wear slippers or house shoes in your own house. Otherwise, you could be tracking lawn chemicals, pesticides, and more on your carpets and floors.

Mistake: Running on Busy Streets
Running where there's a lot of pollution or smog is dangerous and can reduce your lung capacity by up to 20 percent. Long-term exposure can cause asthma, emphysema and other respiratory problems.

Remedy: Avoid running during rush hour or other high traffic times. Find a quiet park away from congestion or exercise indoors.

Mistake: Weighing Yourself Every Day
A woman's weight can fluctuate between three and five pounds daily, and it has nothing to do with how much weight she's gained. Hormones or even a salty meal the day from the day before can make your weight fluctuate.

Remedy: Doctors recommend you weigh yourself only twice a month — mid menstrual cycle and in the morning. You'll know then if you really gained or lost weight.

Mistake: Not Varying Your Workout
When we don't change our exercise routine, we can get bored and lose interest. And when we work the same muscles all the time, other muscles are neglected which can be ineffective and lead to injuries.

Remedy: If your normal routine is to run or walk everyday, add lifting weights to work your arms and shoulders. Try a yoga tape or a new class at the gym — vary your routine every couple of days, and don't be afraid to try new things (after consulting your physician).
