Were you rushed to finish the novel?
Dear Ken Follett,
I am not a normal Oprah's Book Club reader, but I absolutely loved this book! Were you rushed to finish this novel? I ask because your last part of the book seemed rushed compared to the previous pages. I would have loved a scene where the bishop and William meet after the murder of Thomas Beckett and realize that, finally, all is lost! They were the two evil characters of the book, and it seemed that, even though they got their just endings, the pages describing that final realization would have been a true treat to your readers!

Dear Dana,
It's true that I finished Pillars in a long burst of non-stop writing, working on Saturdays and Sundays and long into the evenings. But also I'm always afraid of dragging out the finale too much. As a reader, I often find that books take too long to finish. When the story has ended, shouldn't the book be over?
