10 Ways to Make Reading Fun for Kids!

Try some positive reinforcement to jump start the reading process. Make a list of books that you and your kids can read at the same time, and keep track of how far they're getting. Whether it's two pages or 200, any progress is progress worth noting.
Everybody Look Left, Everybody Look Right
Make sure that books are easily accessible within your home. If Dr. Seuss is closer than the DVR, your children might just be encouraged to reach for something bigger than the remote.
Lead by Example
Do some reading of your own! If your kids see that you're engulfed in your own good book, they'll be quick to join you.
Lighten Up
Reading isn't only about books. Just as you'd hunker down with your favorite magazine, encourage your kids to read everything they can, including comic books and jokes; even game directions will make a difference.
Time to Tune In
Your XM radio shouldn't be the only thing you're listening to. Ask your kids to read aloud on a semi-regular basis. That way, you can track their progress and stay aware of any difficulties they might be having.

All children learn to read at a different pace. Rather than asking your little ones to finish a certain number of pages, set aside a chunk of time during which they should read. If it's a race to the finish, nobody wins.
