Q: What do you recommend for heartburn/acid reflux?

A: That you stand at least three feet away from anyone else. Kidding, Christina. We like Pepcid (available over-the-counter without a prescription) or Acidflex, but you should check with your doctor, too. We also tell our patients with heartburn called GERD (gatrointestinalreflux disease) to also avoid pepper, caffeine, alcohol, smoking and second-hand smoke, and overeating and eating within three hours of bedtime—all trigger reflux. Perhaps your best prescription: Losing 10 pounds; that can be especially effective in reducing symptoms.
