Q: Every time I get a pimple, I'm drawn to squeeze the fluids out of it so I can just get that gunk out of there and it can start to go away. Is that the right thing to do?

A: Yes, if you want to turn your pimple from one tiny red bungalow on your face to a sprawling housing development of scars and infection. Doing the desperate two-finger squeeze only makes a pimple worse. We recommend you use a sterile needle to lance the pimple and allow the pus to drain out. Lance it at the top from side to side. If you can't see the white head yet, be patient until the redness either resolves or comes to a head. Pushing on the pimple can damage the surrounding skin, thus delaying the time until the meteor-like redness disappears and your skin begins to get back your full-moon glow.
