Q: With chronic pancreatitis, do you think we should work on the PH balance of our system, when we do not drink or smoke?
A: The inflammation of the pancreas is usually caused by a toxic substance such as alcohol, a virus, or a blockage of a duct draining from the pancreas. What's worse is that the condition can be more painful than watching a 12-hour awards show. Outside of avoiding what may have caused it and what may irritate it (such as caffeine), we know of little that are effective treatments. Since PH balance processes probably won't hurt, you might try them and stay with them if they're working. But time is a great healer if the toxins are removed and your nutrition is improved.
